David Ortiz and the Boston Red Sox on Sunday did what they do best in the postseason: rally from behind. And with that, the Detroit Tigers are thrilled that this series is at least heading to Detroit now.

After slipping into an early hole following a Game 1 loss at home, the Red Sox were again playing from behind against the Detroit Tigers. With a tough matchup looming in Game 3 against Justin Verlander, Boston had to win in order to avoid disaster.

Ortiz, knowing these situations better than anyone, saw an opportunity and single-handedly made the best of it. With the bases loaded and his team down by that magical number of four runs, Ortiz hit a grand slam to tie the game at 5 in the eighth inning.

"My idea wasn't to go out and hit a grand slam," Ortiz said, as reported by The Boston Globe. "If I was telling you about thinking about hitting a grand slam, I'd be lying to you now."

Ortiz's blast helped end an offensive drought for Boston, a team that failed to get a hit until the game was halfway over.

"You haven't seen a team shutting us down for 14, 15 straight innings like they have the last couple of days," Ortiz said. "But in the postseason it can work both ways for you."

Both teams will have Monday off to travel to Detroit, where they will pick up where they left off. Game 3, 4, and 5 of this best-of-7 series will be in Detroit, followed by a trip back to Boston for games 6 and 7, if necessary.
