Last night, Ruben Studdard, winner of the second season of "American Idol," made his debut on another reality show, "The Biggest Loser." The singer plans on shedding weight but not his back hair.

"I want a second chance to invent myself, not just on the outside, but on the inside," the 2003 "American Idol" winner said.

Studdard will compete against 14 others to lose the most weight and win a grand prize of $250,000.

"I really felt like it was time for me to get a hold of my weight, get a hold of my life in general," Studdard told People. "I am always on the road - always touring, always performing - and I never have an opportunity to take care of myself, so this was a Godsend."

The 33-year-old singer weighed 462 pounds in the show's season premiere, making him the largest competitor by over 50 pounds. Dolvett Quince, one of the show's trainers, chose Studdard as part of his team.

"This person, I see strength in them," Quince said.

Next, Studdard took a relaxing ice bath.

"The ice baths are Jesus in a steel container!" Studdard said.

Another trainer, Jillian Michaels, however, did not like what she saw. Michaels insisted that Studdard wax his thick back hair.

"Let me tell you something, baby," Studdard responded. "That's the real man in me. You understand me?"

Studdard did not want to become what he called one of the world's "womanized men" and vowed to keep his "taco meat."

"You know, I think everything about Ruben Studdard is sexy," he said to the camera.

By the end of the episode, Studdard had shed 21 pounds.

"My team calls me Hollywood now and again, but I didn't get any Hollywood treatment in that gym," Studdard explained.

Season 15 of "The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
