The trade deadline is on its way while several teams look for ways to improve before the second half playoff push.

There have been rumors about Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks possibly getting traded since he is in the final year of his contract and could be useful as a late-season rental. The Giants, on the other hand, would be able to benefit by only giving away a few months of Nicks in exchange for most likely getting a draft pick to have for years to come.

However, the Giants seem hesitant about parting ways with Nicks, and the receiver has expressed his desire to stay in New York.

Among others in the middle of trade talks include veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez, who despite his age made a return to the Atlanta Falcons just to have a chance to win a championship. The Falcons have performed far worse than they were expected to and now the team is 1-4 and buried four games out of first place in the NFC South. However, Gonzalez said he would never ask the squad to trade him.

"I'm still happy as I can be to be a Falcon," the 37 year old Gonzalez said. "I know there were trade rumors out there. I didn't ask for a trade. That wasn't me. I signed up, and this is the team that ... I came back to play with these guys on the team. And I'm enjoying myself, win, lose or draw.

"Obviously I'd rather win. It makes it a lot more fun. But there is no way I would think about jumping ship because I love playing for this team, I love playing for this city."

Nicks and Gonzalez are the only two prominent names that have been mentioned in trade rumors as of late. Although trades are somewhat rare in the NFL, former number 1 draft pick Trent Richardson was shipped from the Browns to the Colts this season.
