Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner, insists a fire that burned a memorial tribute to her father on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day was the work of an arsonist.

"evil set my dads memoral on fire tonight .but cant erase his legacy. rebuild 2morrow #anonymousopfurguson #OpICantBreathe," Erica said via Twitter on Jan. 20. "... its just grows to show how much evil is in the world ... lord forgive these evil ppl who burned down POPS memorial this is really sick my struggle still cont. ... first my father gave now his memorial burning it reminds me of crosses being burnt infront of mlk hse!! ..."

According to Vocativ, prior to Monday's fire, the Rev. Al Sharpton and the Garner family led a peaceful demonstration and candlelight vigil near the scene of where Garner died. The New York Post later reported police suspect the fire was actually caused by a lit candle that accidentally fell and ignited the makeshift tribute.

Erica hardly seemed convinced.

"Can we have an investigation looking into this," she posted.

Earlier in the day, Sharpton also visited the Brooklyn gravesites of the two New York City police officers recently killed in an ambush shooting in that same borough.

The 39-year-old Eric died near his Staten Island home at the hands of local police last July after he was confronted by officers who suspected him of selling illegal cigarettes throughout the neighborhood. The killing set off protests and demonstrations across New York City and much of the nation after a video of him being choked by police was made public. On the tape, Garner can be heard uttering the final words "I can't breathe" several times as officers pinned him to the pavement before his body went limp. A grand jury later decided not to criminally charge any of the officers involved in the incident, even though a medical examiner later ruled the official cause of death as a homicide.

Following Garner's death, NYC Police Commissioner William Bratton ordered that many officers be retrained, admitting that the chokehold used on Garner was against department policy.
