At an mid-November celebrating the opening day of the "Attack on Titan Part I: Crimson Bow and Arrow" film in Japan, director Tetsuro Araki announced the television anime will get a second season in 2016, but a release date was not given. Some speculate "Attack on Titan" Season 2, also known as "Shingeki no Kyojin" in Japanese, will run from April to September 2016.

At the November event, Araki also announced the second anime compilation film, "Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom" will be released on June 27, 2015, in Japan.

In the mean time, fans are left to watch the "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi" prequel anime that arrived in December with Volume 15 of the manga. The storyline revolves around Levi's Survey Corps journey before he is joined by Eren and Mikasa, and how Levi and Erwin met. Fans can get the two original animation DVDs that will be bundled with the 15th and 16th volumes of the main manga; the first was released on Dec. 9, 2014, and the next will be released April 9.

In October, Hallels reported "Attack on Titan" Season 2 production had started. Previous reports cited the Season 2 premiere will air on July 26, but Wit Studios set the record straight and said the release is on hold to allow the completion of Volume 14 and Volume 15 of the "Attack on Titan" manga series.

The "Attack on Titan" series began serialization in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine on Sept. 9, 2009 and has been collected into 15 volumes as of Dec. 9, 2014. The story is set in a city, Shinganshina, that is surrounded by enormous walls as a defense against Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans. The main characters are Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. When a Titan murders Eren and Mikasa's mother, Eren solicits the help of friends to get revenge. "Attack on Titan" had 45 million volumes in print as of November 2014.
