Last night on October 28, the "rap god" Eminem released "The Monster" featuring Rihanna, the latest offering from his upcoming album "The Marshall Mathers LP 2."

The track begins with acoustic guitar plucks and the hook from Rihanna, which she sings soulfully yet powerfully. She refers the monster under her bed to the fame, which she has feared in the beginning, but now she has learned to live with it.

"I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed / Get along with the voices inside of my head / You trying to save me, stop holding your breath," Rihanna sings on the track. "And you think I'm crazy, well that's nothing."

After Rihanna's successful hook, Eminem comes into his first verse with a reference to his October 2000 "Newsweek" magazine cover. Even after fourteen years of being an acclaimed rapper, he still hasn't gotten used to the fame, which has taken away his privacy. The Detroit rapper expresses that he wants to be recognized of his musical talent, not of his personal life.

"I wanted the fame but not the cover of 'Newsweek' / Oh well, guess beggers can't be choosy / Wanted to receive attention for my music / Wanted to be left alone public excuse me," he raps.

Eminem also hopes that one day, he will live a normal life without media drama, just like other people. "Call me crazy, but I have this vision / One day that I walk amongst you a regular civilian," he raps in his last verse. He really wishes that he would blend in with others.

The track ends by building up to a grand musical finale. The drum beats goes faster and stronger, as Rihanna sings at a high pitch and the rapper assists her with background vocals.

The track stands out from other released tracks from Eminem's "MMLP2." It sounds quite different than what the Slim Shady fans might be used to hearing, compared to his usual dark-themed, laid-back sound. It certainly reveals the rapper's different side and his potential in pop genre.

"The Monster" is the twelfth track off Eminem's forthcoming eighth studio album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," which is set for a release on November 5.
