So you've been playing "The Sims 4" -- Electronic Arts' successful life-simulation game -- and you've gone on a bit of a spending spree: That new property did not come in cheap, and what use is an empty mansion? Your home needed to be furnished, and the garage had to be filled with a fancy car.

Now you're facing a desperate lack of Simoleons, or "Sim" currency. Before you give up, start over and embark on a more frugal virtual endeavor, consider some of the cheats that the game's creators have made available to you to cut a corner or two.

To enable these helpful commands, you need to first open a text box by holding down the "Shift," "Ctrl" and "C" keys at the same time. Now it's time for the magic: If you type in "rosebud" or "kaching," for example, 1,000 Simoleons will pop up in your bank account. And if that doesn't quite cut it, try "motherlode" -- and, all of a sudden, you'll add a whopping 50,000 Simoleons.

But life -- even virtual life -- is not just about money. Before you can use some of the more advanced cheats that will make things even more entertaining, an intermediate step is required. You need to activate the so-called "testing mode," and this is achieved by reopening the text box and using the "testingcheats true" command.

This procedure, unfortunately, has to be repeated every time you travel, enter the "create a 'Sim'" mode, reload the game, manage households or towns or cause a "loading" screen to appear, as our friends at Cheat Code Central point out. But it's well worth the effort because of the myriad options it gives you.

With your money woes out of the picture, you might decide to expand your family, for example. You could give it the good old "college try" -- or you could the "sims.add_buff pregnancy_trimester1" to make your "Sim" pregnant.

And if you cannot wait out the nine months, "sims.add_buff pregnancy_inlabor" lets you skip directly to the baby's birth (though you may want to work on your patience before having kids).
