A Florida woman who thought she was pregnant with twins recently gave birth to the heaviest baby ever born at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital.

Avery Ford was born to mother Maxxzandra Ford at 14.1 pounds late last week, easily making him one of the largest babies born in Florida history.

"I was cussing up a storm," Ford told Fox News of the birth. "Yeah, it was bad."

The baby's father, Allen Denson, spoke about the third child the couple now shares.

"I have a linebacker now instead of a fullback," he said.

A nurse and born a twin herself, Ford said she didn't realize she was pregnant until her 35th week.

"No nausea, no vomiting," she explained. "I didn't gain any weight. I was working. My feet never swelled, never was really tired, my back didn't hurt so obviously I didn't think anything of it.

Denson added he "was shocked" to find out Ford was pregnant.

"I couldn't believe it," he continued. "I thought she was playing."

Several media outlets have reported the baby was delivered by natural birth after 18 hours of labor, partly because Ford didn't think she had the time to undergo a C-section.

"Before I knew it, he was already coming out," she said. "It was too late to come back. We just pressed on. When I felt his head come out, I knew he was bigger than 10 pounds."

The baby was expected to head home over the weekend, joining the couple's 5- and 1-year-old in what almost certainly has to be a lively abode.

"They can have some difficulties getting out of the birth canal and there can be some residual effects from that," said Dr. Jenelle Ferry, a neonatologist who is taking care of the newborn. "They can initially have some problems with breathing, regulating their blood sugars and then problems with eating."
