The Yankees may not even bother with star free-agent Curtis Granderson after a person familiar with the team's thinking told CBS' Jon Heyman that the team is seeking to land Shin-Soo Choo and Carlos Beltran as well as Jacoby Ellsbury.

The Yanks offered Granderson a $14.1 million qualifying offer but he rejected it. The Yankees are reportedly done pursuing Granderson at this point, but the New York Mets have shown interest in going after Granderson.

Robinson Cano also turned down the qualifying offer from the Yankees but ESPN said that he is unlikely to make a decision on an offer until at least December. He seeks a ten-year contract worth more than $300 million but Yankees' ownership maintains that they will not sign a player for a decade.

Instead, the Yankees could switch gears by landing Carlos Beltran, who re-emerged as an even bigger name this past postseason when he led the St. Louis Cardinals all the way to the sixth game of the World Series against the Boston Red Sox. He injured his ribs during the first game of the series but impressed everyone when he played in a game the day after landing in the hospital. Beltran just finished a two-year contract with the Cardinals and at age 37 is still receiving so much interest in other teams that he is reportedly seeking a three or four year contract.

With the World Series just wrapping up, it could be a long off-season of waiting for fans that want to see the top players sign with their favorite teams.
