The gold iPhone 5S is so popular around the world that Apple has started to face difficulties in keeping it in stock.

The rumors circulating the web prior to the iPhone 5s release indicated that the gold phones would be extremely popular in some foreign markets and perhaps Apple took note of this prior to the release.

The gold iPhone reportedly sold out instantly in China and Hong Kong while European nations as well as Australia also struggled to keep up with the demand for the phones.

Despite the gold phone's popularity, Business Insider reported that the phone is not nearly as popular in the United States. However, this could just be a reflection of the gold iPhone shortages around the world. It could also be related to cultural norms about the worth of gold, even if the phone's gold color is not made of actual gold.

Regardless of the colors, the iPhone 5S is still faring much better than the 5C despite a heavy advertising campaign by Apple to push the latter into the market. It was the first time Apple launched two phones in one release, and as the gold indicates, it also marked the first time that the tech giant released phones that were not the usual black and white colors. The 5C has been marketed as a more budget-friendly phone catered to younger consumers who would enjoy the colorful selection of iPhones. The 5S costs significantly more than the 5C and is seen as more of an upgrade from the iPhone 5. Some have gone as far as saying that the 5C is not much more than a repackaged iPhone 5 with an improved camera.
