Mel Gibson is seemingly growing more and more agitated about a car accident he was involved in California just after the Christmas holiday.

TMZ reports Gibson was driving in the neighborhood of his Malibu home on the evening in question when he struck a parked vehicle. After being extricated from his own car, sources told the website he left a note on the car, which contained all his pertinent contact information, for the owner of the 13-year-old vehicle.

Over time, Gibson's insurance company reportedly paid for all the repairs and furnished the female owner with a rental car, as well as reimbursed her for other expenses. But now, Gibson insists the woman doesn't consider any of that to be enough and is trying to squeeze him for even more money simply because he's rich and a celebrity.

According to TMZ, among her demands are calls for a new car and more cash. Supposedly, the woman has now threatened to sue the "Lethal Weapon" star and the matter largely remains unresolved.

The 59-year-old Gibson was previously arrested in 2006 on suspicion of DUI charges. Los Angeles County Sheriff Department officials initially pulled Gibson's 2006 Lexus over for speeding and a subsequent Breathalyzer test found his blood-alcohol level to be at .12, well over the state legal limit of .08.

Gibson was later released that same morning on $5,000 bail. Representatives for Gibson insist alcohol had "absolutely" nothing to do with his most recent mishap.

Sober or not, Gibson hardly remains a stranger to controversy. In 2010, Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of his young daughter, filed for a restraining order against him. Later that same year, he was investigated by police for domestic violence.

In July of 2010, Gibson was dropped by his agency, William Morris Endeavor, after audio recordings alleged to have been made by him were released on the Internet that many considered to be racist and anti-Semitic.
