Jamie Dornan was happy to replace Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. One of his friends, on the other hand, was not as impressed with the role of the kinky businessman.

"Sons of Anarchy" star Hunnam was originally cast as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E.L. James' erotic novel but dropped out of the film on Oct. 12, allegedly because of a busy television schedule.

"When he dropped out, I didn't instantly think, 'Oh here we go, maybe I should cancel that holiday,' but I did feel that maybe we'd revisit the idea of me," Dornan told Entertainment Weekly.

The filmmakers did revisit the idea, and soon enough Dornan was the new Christian Grey. The controversial role is not everyone's cup of tea, however.

"A friend of mine texted me saying, 'I heard about Fifty Shades. Congratulations on the role. That's going to be disgusting. I won't watch it,'" Dornan said.

Dornan said that his family is more supportive. His father and sisters have offered "their encouragement," which might come in handy as the former "Once Upon a Time" star prepares for what we can only assume will be very revealing sex scenes.

"I've never felt that Christian needs to be some kind of monster, but I think it's very clear how he conditions himself and looks after himself," Dornan said. "I take decent enough care of myself anyway, so obviously I'm gonna up it slightly with training, but we don't have any intention to really bulk up. I don't think it's appropriate."

Fifty Shades of Grey begins production on Dec. 2 in Vancouver and will be released Feb. 13, 2015.
