If you have dreamed of a DeLorean iPhone case since 1985 (when, admittedly, time travel would have been required to spark your desire), you're in luck: A Japanese outlet is offering a very special, "Back to the Future"-inspired cover that features glowing blue lights and is timed to celebrate the movie's setting in the present, CNET reported.

The case features some interactive parts that are sure to impress your fellow sci-fi fanatics: Sliding the driver's-side front fender and wheel out of place, for instance, uncovers your smartphone's camera; the opposite fender features a hatch to access controls; and your DeLorean alerts you to incoming calls by flashing its headlights.

The special toy comes at a price however, CNET detailed: It will retail for around $50. And while you can already pre-order the item expected to ship in June, navigating the Japanese seller's website may prove even more challenging to most than handing over that Ulysses S. Grant.

Luckily, though, there are some alternatives that are affordable, available and accessible in English. We have compiled a couple of our favorites, but be warned: These are decidedly more low-tech than the Japanese DeLorean.

  • Redbubble's "I'm Your Destiny" case promises to be a scratch-resistant, custom-cut vinyl skin that lets you highlight your "Back to the Future" credentials. The cover comes in three versions -- "Skin," "Snap" and "Tough" -- which retail for $16.25, $27.08 and $32.50, respectively. If you are among those iPhone users who have made the leap into the present and opted for the larger screen of the device's "Plus" version, rejoice: The case is available for your smartphone, as well, and does not cost you a dime more.

  • Sure, you know the famous "Back to the Future" lines by heart. But let's face it: The movie is really about the DMC-12. And Fine Art America has come up with a very classy tribute to the vehicle with itsDeLorean case. The hard-shell cover is just as impact-resistant as the car and -- you guessed it -- is highly customizable. It will set you back $35 for both the standard iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
