Hunger Games Catching Fire made an impressive start at the box office having earned gross sales that reached $25.25 million right on its first night.

Wall Street Journal wrote that according to Lions Gate Entertainment, the earnings of the latest Hunger Games installment was 28% higher than the first one on its opening night last March 2012. Predictions of box office experts proved to be true saying how Catching Fire will serve to be one of the biggest opening weekends in the domestic regions.

Similarly, it is expected to reach big overseas as it has already opened in other countries around the globe. Lions Gate added that all ticket sales from other countries made double than the first weekend of the first movie of the film adaptation.

Entertainment Wise reported too that as per Fandango, the movie also turned out to be the most pre-booked film of the year along among cinemagoers in the U.S. Apart from good numbers in earnings, it has also received amazing reviews from majority of movie critics with 3-star judgments as its lowest.

LA Times said that most critics gave high praises to its new director Francis Lawrence who replaced Gary Ross who directed the first movie in the film series. Lead actress Jennifer Lawrence reprised her role as Katniss Everdeen along with other stars like Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

Many reviewers from different publications have made different comments about the movie but all ends up with one positive point on how exceptional the film is. For LA Times though, the site wrote and gave emphasis to their view that the central core and excellence of the movie were all exuded best by the award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire also features other stars like Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland and a lot more. The movie was adapted from the bestselling book series written by Suzanne Collins.
