Woodbury's ruthless Governor (David Morrissey) is back in charge, and contrary to viewers' hopes, he's just as mean a killer as he was when the audience first met him, reports Access Hollywood.

"Dead Weight," Episode 7 of The Walking Dead, shows the story and evolution of the one-eyed villain as he struggles to juggle multiple roles, ranging from hero to psychopath. This episode also reveals dreaded turn of events at the end that endangers some of the main characters in the prison.

The opening part of the episode gives viewers the idyllic scene between the Governor and Megan, the young girl who so painfully reminds him of his daughter. He even calls her "pumpkin," a luxury so rare in post-apocalyptic world of zombies and deadly flu viruses. As they play chess beside the RV they now call home, there seems to be promise of a new life for this awful villain. As scenes unfold to tell his story, however, it's clear that the Governor has no plans to turn over a new leaf, even with Lily, Megan and Tara as his new family, according to Time.

When Martinez discovers the Governor and Megan trapped in the all-too familiar pit, he decides to rescue the pair for the child's sake, and for the sake of Lily and Tara. Otherwise, Martinez points out, he never would have considered taking in his former boss.  His small camp is composed of few survivors, and together with brothers Pete and Mitch, they struggle to protect and sustain the group, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The Governor seizes control and leadership of the camp with a string of murders and lies. First, he bludgeons Martinez in the head while playing golf, and throws the body into the walker pit so it would look like an accident. Next, he stabs Pete, the more sensible and more compassionate of the brothers. He then offers Mitch, the remaining brother, the role of henchman.

To give him credit, the softened hero in the Governor did try to flee the camp, asking his new family to pack up and leave in the dead of night. However, they scurry back to camp as walkers and mud blocked their path.

With the Governor back in charge, the camp thrives. Each one has a role to play, a task to do. The Governor, taking on the role of protector and leader, demonstrates his heroism when a walker attacks Megan and nearly gets her.

By the end of the episode, the Governor takes the stalker spot near the prison. He eyes Rick and Carl as they walk towards the building; he then spies Michonne and Hershel, going for a run to dump the prison-invading walkers from the night before. And in a move that stops the heart, the Governor raises his gun and aims it at his sword-wielding nemesis. The real, gory fun begins.
