Things will heat up in the next all-new episode of "Empire" as the Lyon family fights to save Empire Entertainment and Jamal stands up to his father in defense of his sexual orientation.

There will be an "all-out war" between Cookie and Anika after Cookie confronts her for conducting underhanded business, states the official synopsis for the upcoming episode entitled "Unto the Breach."

A preview video also teases that Jamal will record a song with a singer named Delphine played by pop sensation Estelle. He will also challenge his father, Lucious, to look past his homophobia for the sake of Empire.

In the meantime, Lucious will confront his longtime rival Billy Beretti, played by Judd Nelson.

According to Wet Paint, the full synopsis reads as follows:

"It's an all-out war when Cookie uncovers Anika's big backstabbing secret, and Lucious must come face-to-face with his longtime rival, Billy Beretti (guest star Judd Nelson). As the Lyon family rallies to save Empire Entertainment, all three sons take drastic measures: Jamal gets close with famous artist Delphine (guest star Estelle), Hakeem works hand-in-hand with Cookie and Andre is pushed way beyond his limits in the all-new "Unto the Breach" episode of EMPIRE on Wednesday, March 4."

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Jussie Smollett opened up about the growth of his character, Jamal.

In last week's episode, nearly everyone seemed to embrace Jamal for coming out in public during a performance, but Lucious was visibly upset with his son for being open about his sexuality and remixing one of his own songs.

Nevertheless, Smollett says that it took Jamal a long time to get where he is now.

"When we are essentially owned by someone, whether it's an employer or a parent, it's very difficult to break away and be free, and I think that it was just another situation where the brilliance of Lucious Lyon manipulated the situation. He's very much a puppet master [and] it took a long time for Jamal to cut those strings," Smollett said.

Now that Jamal has a strong support system and a new found confidence, he is able to stand up for himself and his business. Lucious, however, won't make things easy for him.

"You'll see the butting of the heads, but you'll also see that with that said, there is also a certain level of 'I don't give a f-' that comes from Jamal," teased Smollett. "There's an 'I don't give a f-' attitude that Lucious has had, and now we see it in Jamal, too. [And] Lucious is left with no other option; whether he agrees or disagrees with Jamal's decision, he has no other option except, man to man, to respect him as a man," Smollett told THR.

E! News also revealed that fans can expect Andre to finally become the center of attention in Episode 10, which will reveal more about his mental illness through heartbreaking flashback scenes.

"Empire" episode 1.9, "Unto The Breach," will air Wednesday, March 4 at 9 PM EST on FOX.
