The temperatures are dropping but the NFL's postseason race is just heating right up.

Only five weeks remain in the regular season and all kinds of playoff spots are up for grabs, from wild card spots to division titles. In the AFC, half of a dozen teams are tied for the final wild card spot with each of them sitting at a dismal 5-6. In the NFC, the previously mediocre NFC East may be shaping up to be slightly more impressive as the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are now finally above .500 and tied for the division lead after 11 games.

Teams will inch one more step closer to the postseason on Thanksgiving Thursday as a full slate of NFL games will keep fans entertained while they stuff themselves full of turkey. The Detroit Lions are sitting atop the very tight NFC North with a 6-5 record while the 6-5 Bears and the 5-5-1 Packers are sticking close in the rear view mirror.

In other games, the Oakland Raiders will be on the road against the Cowboys while the Baltimore Ravens will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in a decisive AFC matchup. Although the two squads are division rivals, it will be the sixth wild card spot at stake. Both teams are among the six teams tied for the final spot.

Later in the week, the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs will face each other for the second time in just three weeks as the division rivals each look to take full possession of the AFC West.
