Former teen star Miley Cyrus may have twerked her way into a Time Magazine Person of the Year honor.

Billboard Magazine is reporting that the 21-year-old "Party in the USA" singer is currently beating out Barack Obama and the Boston Marathon bombers in the online poll that will help determine who will grace the front cover of Time Magazine in their "Person of the Year" honor. As of Wednesday afternoon, Cyrus was getting 29.1% of votes, ahead of Indian politician Narenda Modi (12.1%), NSA leaker Edward Snowden (9.4%), Texas state senator and abortion-rights activist Wendy Davis (5.4%) and Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad (5.0%).

There are two phases of voting: the current phase, where readers get to determine who should make the front cover, and a second phase, where readers can vote if the runners-up have influenced the news.

But according to The New York Daily News, Cyrus is currently in the lead because at least two hackers have claimed to have gotten into the Time Magazine website and tipped the scales of voting in Miley's favor. Never fear, however: Time Magazine has released a statement that it's their editorial board -- not the votes of an online poll -- that ultimately determine who gets the coveted award.

So, do you think Miley should win Person of the Year? Do you think this was all the result of hackers? Who influenced the news this year? Will you be voting in this year's Time poll? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
