What awaits the Crawley family and the servants at Downton in the next season of "Downton Abbey?"

Actor Hugh Bonneville has hinted at what may come, including a Christmas Special for the sixth season and possible love interests for Crawley sisters, as well as some technological hurdles for Mrs. Patmore.

Speaking to reporters after TRIC Awards in London, Bonneville, who plays Lord Grantham, confirmed they will film a Christmas Special for the end of Season 6, according to the Daily Mail. The cast is currently filming the eight episodes for the next season.

"We will. We'll do a ninth episode which will come out at Christmas," he said, and explained further what happens in the sixth season.

"We're in 1925, so the series has nudged on another six months, and Lady Rose has been on her honeymoon and she's now moved to America," he said. He confirmed Lily James and Allan Leech will not return, at least as regulars.

"Tom Branson has gone to Boston, and some faces that we met towards the end of the fifth season may or may not be coming over the horizon to break or make the hearts of Lady Mary and Lady Edith and people like that," he added, hinting at the new love interests introduced in the season five Christmas Special.

Lady Mary, played by Michelle Dockery, may have fallen for Henry Talbot, played by Matthew Goode. Meanwhile, Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) could have found a new interest in Brancaster Castle's land agent Bertie Pelham (Harry Hadden-Paton), a much needed distraction for the heartbroken sister.

Speaking with Variety, producer Gareth Neame revealed the show had been trying to get Goode to join for some time.

"We really like Matthew and we've been interested in getting him into the show for awhile. We like the soft encounter that (Mary and Henry) have. ... Mary has definitely shown a flicker of interest she hasn't much shown before, so it will be interesting as to where that goes," he said.

However, he did not make any promises about Goode joining the cast as he is currently in "The Good Wife."

In another interview with Deadline, Neame explained that, though they hoped it would be possible, it is too expensive to film in the U.S. But, he said James (Lady Rose) and Leech (Tom Branson) may appear in the next season.

Deadline also asked whether Season 6 would be the last one and he said: "We'll call time when we think the time is right."

However, the Daily Mail quotes sources that spoke with the Daily Mirror that it is likely season six will be the last one. The actors' agencies are already looking for other work for their clients.

One thing is certain, however, Mrs. Patmore will continue to struggle with technology. Vanity Fair quotes Bonneville as saying: "Mrs. Patmore's latest horror story is the fridge. Which is another invention that is coming to take her out of her profession. Modernity is creeping ever forwards," he said, recounting previous technological novelties introduced. "But now we've got a fridge. So that's a big plot spoiler for you."
