James Rodriguez is reportedly nearing his return for Real Madrid and the popular midfielder showed that he is still on target despite being sidelined by a foot injury.

In a video that he posted on Instagram, Rodriguez netted a goal off a well-placed free kick at their training facility. As a warning to competing clubs and music to the ears of Real Madrid fans, Rodriguez posted: "My aim is still intact."

Rodriguez, who signed a six-year deal with Real Madrid after a lucrative £64 million move from Monaco, has not played since the start of last month after sustaining a broken foot.

But despite being on the sidelines for more than a month, the Colombia international proved that he can immediately make an impact when he returns to action for Real.

On Saturday, Rodriguez also posted a video update on Instagram where he was seen using an anti-gravity treadmill as part of his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery, which repaired a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

According to previous reports, the 23-year-old midfielder hurt his right foot during their 2-1 win against Sevilla in a Spanish La Liga matchup on February 4 at Bernabeu. Following the surgery, Real Madrid ruled him out for eight weeks, but the recent videos he posted suggested that he could make his return anytime soon.

In 20 Spanish La Liga appearances this season, Rodriguez has tallied eight goals and seven assists for Real Madrid. His impending return is expected to be a huge boost to the club after struggling over the past several weeks.

Before ending their cold spell with a 2-0 win against Levante on Sunday, Real Madrid took a 1-0 upset loss to Athletic Bilbao on March 7, which was followed by a 4-3 loss to Schalke in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie on Tuesday last week.

After being on top of the Spanish La Liga standings for several weeks, Real Madrid are now in second place with 65 points in 27 matches, but they are just one-point behind league-leading FC Barcelona. They could reclaim the spot when they collide with Barca in the highly anticipated match on Monday at Camp Nou.
