Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett has floated the idea that maybe she could appear on the popular British costume drama "Downton Abbey."

Blanchett would know whom to contact, as she starred in Disney's "Cinderella" with two "Downton Abbey" stars.

Speaking on the ITV show "Lorriane" to promote "Cinderella" ahead of its March 27 release in the U.K., Blanchett said she would like to appear on the hit drama, which is currently filming its sixth season, according to Digital Spy.

"I did have words and I followed up with my agent, no call has yet been received -- but I'm seeing the girls again today, so I'll get them to put a good word in," she told host Richard Arnold, making a reference to Lily James and Sophie McShera who starred in "Cinderella" with her.

James, Lady Rose on "Downton Abbey," played Cinderella, while McShera, who plays on "Downton" Daisy, played one of the evil stepsisters.

Stars have made previous appearances on the show, including Paul Giamatti and Shirley McLaine, who played Lady Grantham's brother and mother. George Clooney also appeared on a charity short for Christmas.

However, fans will not know soon whether Blanchett will appear on the show. Radio Times reports that creator and writer Julian Fellowes has had enough of the constant questions about the show's end and will no longer talk about it.

"You can ask those, we just won't answer," he said during a recent Q&A session in the U.S. The audience had been banned from asking questions pertaining to show's end, which some speculate may come with Season 6's finale.

Not much has been revealed about what to expect from Season 6, though Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Grantham, had said the new season will be set in 1925, jumping some six months from the end of 1924.

If Blanchett does appear in this season, she could play someone related to some of the characters introduced during the last Christmas Special. It would also be interesting if she has some link with Lady Rose, who has left for America.

James has said she hopes to return to "Downton Abbey," making for a perfect scene to reunite both actors in 1925 Yorkshire.
