Following the unexpected and shocking recent tragic death of actor Paul Walker, the production on highly-anticipated summer action film "Fast & Furious 7" has inevitably halted, while the cast and crew try their best to retain the upcoming movie.

"We have half a movie shot and we are working through it," Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said, explaining the major decision to stop the production.

The film was on an accelerated schedule of the making in a great effort to release the feature in time for the summer - the seventh installment of the action film franchise was originally set to hit theaters on July 11, 2014.

"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended 'Fast & Furious' family of cast, crew and filmmakers," a representative of Universal said in a statement. "At this time, we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production of 'Fast & Furious 7' for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise."

"We are committed to keeping 'Fast & Furious' fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker," the rep concluded the press release.

In addition, some of the profits from sales of the new "Fast & Furious" DVD will go towards Walker's charity: "When you buy 'Fast & Furious 6' on Blu-ray or DVD, a portion of proceeds will be donated to Paul Walker's 'Reach Out' worldwide charity organization, which funs First Responder efforts at crisis points around the globe," a commercial informed.

It is unknown when the production on the film will resume, and highly unlikely that the film will be released on the set release date.
