History Channel's hit drama "Vikings" has been renewed for a fourth season just five episodes into its third season, according to Deadline.

"Vikings" is averaging 4.3 million viewers and ranks as the No. 1 cable series on Thursday nights in all key demographics.

Production on Season 4 will begin in Ireland this spring.

History and H2 general manager Dick Hoogstra said, "'Vikings' has raided the hearts of both audiences and critics, establishing itself as one of the most compelling, visually stunning dramas on television."

The network has been looking to use "Vikings" to launch a new scripted series while the popular show is History Channel's sole scripted drama series.

"Vikings" was created by executive producer Michael Hirst. Other producers for the series include Morgan O'Sullivan of World 2000, Sheila Hockin, John Weber of Take 5 Productions, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and James Flynn.

Fans will learn if "Paris is always a good idea" in the next episode of "Vikings" Thursday night on the History Channel, according to the History Channel.

In Episode 6 of Season 3, titled "Born Again," Hedeby villager Kalf and his warriors are stepping up preparations for their planned Paris raid.

The Viking fleet will also sail up the Seine and catch sight of Paris for the first time.

"Vikings" actor Travis Fimmel who plays legendary warrior Ragnar Lothbrok revealed that the hit show will go on while expressing his admiration for the show's creator.

"It's amazing that he writes every episode -- and I don't know how long he can keep doing that for. But good on him -- he's a brilliant writer," Fimmel told Digital Spy.

"There are so many good stories about the Vikings. Ragnar's sons go on to do bigger and better things than he did, so there's plenty more stories to write," the actor added.

The show based on historical facts and well-documented mythology airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. EST.
