Gwen Stefani has reportely taken out a restraining order against an "overzealous fan" who somehow always seemed to know where the star singer was going to be.

According to TMZ.com, Stefani "suffered a bit of a scare" on Tuesday when the fan tracked her down to an acupuncture clinic, where she was with her 1-year-old son.

The website added the man also frequently phoned the star singer, and on the day of the acupuncture clinic appointment, told her he was going to be waiting outside the facility "to meet her."

Authorities are now on alert for the man, who somehow slipped away that day after Stefani immediately phoned police.

Stefani's shares a similar experience to Richard Gere, according to Inquistr. "The American Gigolo" star was "aggressively stalked" by a 51-year-old woman who emailed and faxed him more than 1,000 times. The woman also allegedly showed up at his home a half a dozen times and expressed a desire to live with him.

The 45-year-old Stefani emerged on the scene as a member of the rock band No Doubt, before going solo and selling more than a million copies on her first album, "Love, Angel, Music, Baby."

Later, Stefani's wildly popular "Hollaback Girl," became the first U.S. digital download to sell one million copies. Stefani has also won a Grammy Award

In 2003, she debuted her L.A.M.B. clothing line and, in 2005, expanded it to include the Harajuku Lovers line. Billboard Magazine recently named Stefani the 54th most successful artist, and in 2012 VH1 once ranked her 13th on their "100 Greatest Women in Music" list.

In 2008, Forbes Magazine estimated Stefani's earnings that year at $27 million.
