Amir Khan failed to get a shot against either Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Manny Pacquiao this year, but the former world champion is still eyeing big fights this year and expressed interest in facing Miguel Cotto or Kell Brook.

Khan, who holds a 30-3 record with 19 knockout victories, said that a showdown against Cotto, the reigning World Boxing Council middleweight champion, will be a great fight for him.

"I think Miguel Cotto's a good fighter for me," Khan said via BoxingScene. "Obviously styles make fights, he's a very big name in boxing, everyone knows who he is."

Cotto, who has not fought since winning the WBC middleweight title via a 10th-round knockout victory against Sergio Martinez in June last year, holds a 39-4 record with 32 knockouts. The Puerto Rican champion is on a career resurgence after training under Hall of Famer Freddie Roach.

Khan thinks he has what it takes to give Cotto a run for his money. The Briton, who is fighting at the 147-pound division, knows that weight disparity could be an issue since Cotto has not expressed interest in moving down from 160 pounds for his upcoming fight, but Khan said that he is open to agreeing to a catch weight to make it happen.

"I think with my speed, movement and the way I have been fighting under Virgil Hunter, I think it will be a great fight for me," Khan said. "I know he is a lot heavier than me but doing that fight at catch-weight will be amazing. But at the moment we have just left everything with the managers and hopefully they can get everything sorted out."

Cotto, who is continuously being linked to a fight against Saul Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin, will reportedly name his next opponent in the coming weeks. Previous reports indicated that the 34-year-old might make his first title defense against International Boxing Federation junior middleweight champion Cornelius Bundrage.

Aside from Cotto, Khan also wants a shot against Kell Brook if the reigning IBF welterweight champion manages to keep his title in his defense against Ionut Dan Ion on Saturday in Sheffield. Khan said that he is not closing his doors on the possibility of facing his fellow Briton later this year.

"I am sure he is hopeful this weekend and then hopefully after that we can start talking to him," Khan said of Brook. "It's a fight that boxing fans want to see and it's a fight I'd like as well. So why not?"
