After being run over and pinned underneath a car, a female cyclist in China was saved by a group of bystanders who worked together to lift the car off of her.

Video footage shows that a woman was cycling on the city streets of Yuxi in southwest China before being hit by a motorist making a right turn. The cyclist is then seen being dragged beneath the front of the car as the driver panicked and hit the accelerator instead of the brake, reports the Times of Malta. As a result, the bicyclist became trapped beneath the front wheel of the vehicle.

However, about 20 pedestrians quickly rushed to the woman's aid and helped to lift the silver hatchback car off of her. Fortunately, the woman survived and was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A similar incident occurred in July 2014 in New York City after bystanders helped saved a cyclist in Manhattan. According to NBC 4 New York, an 83-year-old woman was pinned beneath a New York City taxi near the Columbus Circle while she was walking her bike across the intersection at 60th Street and Columbus Avenue.

That's when bystanders worked to lift the 3,300-pound SUV cab off the injured woman. A group of witnesses that included several construction workers also rushed to help the cyclist after she was struck by a taxi.

The unidentified woman managed to survive the accident and was transported to Bellevue Hospital to be treated for a broken wrist and multiple fractures in her leg.

"All I saw was her sneakers," said 60-year-old Loyola who helped lift the vehicle off of the woman. "I don't know where I got the strength," she added.
