While "Furious 7" is still riding high into this weekend, that's not the only movie to look forward to.

This weekend a number of critically acclaimed Indie films will be released alongside a major studio romance.

However, no studio will dare compete against "Furious 7," which is likely to win the box office for the second straight weekend and will continue to break records.

Latin Post breaks down the hottest movies hitting theaters this weekend:

"The Longest Ride"

The biggest release of the weekend is another Nicholas Sparks adaptation starring Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson. The film tells the story of an older man as he reflects back on a lost love while he's trapped in an automobile crash. The movie has scored terrible reviews but it is tracking well among female audiences. Currently the 20th Century Fox release is posed to make $16 million on opening weekend, which is on par with most Sparks adaptations. The movie is unlikely to open at number one as it has too much competition from "Furious 7" as well as "Cinderella" and "Home."

"Ex Machina"

A24 will release Alex Garland's debut feature after an arousing response at the SXSW Film Festival. The film tells the story of a young programmer who is selected to participate in a breakthrough experiment in artificial intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a breathtaking female A.I. The movie reunites "Anna Karenina" stars Alicia Vikander and Domhnall Gleeson and also stars Guatemalan actor Oscar Isaac, who will star alongside Gleeson in the upcoming "Star Wars" film. Reviews have been stellar with most commenting on the visual flair and the unexpected ending. While it is not the typical action packed Science Fiction film, it is likely to gain a following among Indie circles. It is unknown whether the movie could expand into the mainstream, but A24 will first release it in limited release and later expand based on its opening.

"Clouds of Sils Maria"

Olivier Assayas latest film hits theaters eleven months after its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Starring Juliette Binoche, Kristen Stewart and Chloe Grace Moretz, the film tells the story of a veteran actress who comes face-to-face with an uncomfortable reflection of herself when she agrees to take part in a revival of the play that launched her career 20 years earlier. The movie has been praised for its performances and it was even nominated for the Cesar award in France. Kristen Stewart took home the supporting actress award becoming the first American actress to take home a Cesar. IFC Films will release "Clouds of Sils Maria" only in theaters to see if it can become the company's breakout hit. As a result, the company has not announced a VOD release yet.

"Lost River"

Ryan Gosling's directorial debut will make its theatrical debut after a derided Cannes debut. The film tells the story of a single mother who is swept into a dark underworld, while her teenage son discovers a road that leads him to a secret underwater town. "Lost River" stars Saoirse Ronan, Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes and Matt Smith and Warner Bros. will release it. "Lost River" premiered last year to boos and Warner Bros. decided to release the film on VOD, a first for the major studio and give it a limited release. However, the marketing campaign has been limited and reviews have been extremely cruel. Expect this to be a hit on VOD and a flop in theaters.

This week will also see the release of Alchemy's "Black Souls," Relativity's "Dessert Dancer" and Purdie Distribution's "Freetown."

Magnolia will release "Kill Me Three Times," Big World Pictures will have "Rebels of the Neon God" and Freestyle Releasing will unveil "The Sisterhood of Night."

Among the titles expanding this weekend include "Danny Collins," "Kumiko," "White God," "While Were Young" and "Wild Tales."

"Furious 7" will continue to make headlines while "It Follows" and "Cinderella" will continue their successful theatrical runs.
