The June 13 return of one of summer's hottest shows, "Mistresses," sounds like it's poised to take us on a new journey with even more explosive storylines. The plots and twists are definitely coming back for another stab at our weekly fix.

April, played by actress Rochelle Aytes, may find herself in front of a judge, as reported in TVLine's Ask Ausiello. But we would be too quick to judge that she may be facing legal trouble, considering her "once dead husband, now dead again for real" was confirmed dead on the Season 2 finale.

This time she may be facing a judge who shares the same blood. Her mother, a highly revered and well-respected Circuit Court Judge, will be making an appearance on the show. It also appears as though she does not have a warm relationship with her mother either.

Family troubles seem to have been a major theme in April's life, considering her issues with her husband's death (and resurrection), his former mistress blackmailing her and her daughter's own hatred of her because she kept the news a secret. So the family turmoil theme seems like the most logical way to go with season 3.

Add to the mix another report by TVLine that Brian White ("Scandal," "Beauty and the Beast") has joined the cast as Blair, who's the headmaster at a school attended by April's daughter Lucy. His character, who is described as one whom "embodies authority and strength," could soon play host to advances from April, considering he is the opposite of those past relationships that did not work for her.

The series will also feature Jennifer Esposito ("Blue Bloods," "Summer of Sam") as Calista Raines, who will serve as a mentor and friend to Joss in the absence of her sister Savi.

This summer series, which was originally a U.K series of the same name, was adapted for U.S. television by K.J. Steinberg and premiered on ABC on June 3, 2013.
