The prequel series to AMC's hit Breaking Bad will premiere next year on the same channel. Afterwards, viewers will be able to pause, rewind and watch episodes repeatedly as streaming for Better Call Saul will be available via Netflix.

Variety reports that Netflix has recently made a deal with Sony Pictures Television to put Better Call Saul on Netflix after it airs its first season on AMC. United States and Canadian Netflix members can watch the show online after its season finale. Meanwhile, European and Latin American Netflix users will be able to access episodes just days after its original U.S. broadcast.

"Coming off of the overwhelming success of 'Breaking Bad,' we're excited to continue our collaboration with Vince, as well as Peter Gould, and that fans around the world will be able to embrace 'Saul,'" Steve Mosko, President of Sony Pictures Television, said in a press release.

The news means that Netflix will continue having a strong hand in the Vince Gilligan-created franchise. The streaming service already has almost every episode of "Breaking Bad" on its website; only the last half of season 5 is not yet available. Now, Netflix is the only company with rights to air "Better Call Saul" on demand. While the series has already piqued viewers' interest thanks to the success of "Breaking Bad," having the show available on Netflix will likely increase the show's popularity and its chances of renewal as fans will have a second opportunity to view, and become obsessed with, the new series.

"'Breaking Bad' is widely recognized as one of the great TV experiences in this new golden age of television," Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer, said in a press release. "It has also proven very popular with Netflix subscribers around the world. This spin-off promises to continue its tradition of powerful storytelling. We are proud to be in business with Sony Pictures Television to bring Saul Goodman to our subscribers around the world."

Better Call Saul will chronicle the life of Walter White's lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) in his days before meeting the meth king pin. Its creators have stated that it will be more of a sitcom than a drama.

AMC has yet to announce a premiere date for Better Call Saul.
