A man called police after realizing that he was babysitting an abducted child after seeing the kid on an Amber Alert via social media, ABC News reports.

Police in Washington state say that the toddler may have been kidnapped by his paternal grandmother and his dad's girlfriend.

The girlfriend asked her brother John Truong to watch the little boy. Truong later called police after finding out the toddler was the subject of an Amber Alert.

"It was my sister who had asked me as a favor to watch her boyfriend's son," Truong said. "And that's how he came and was dropped off."

He recalled being confused after browsing through Facebook and receiving the Amber Alert of the child who was in his care.

Police reports say the child and his mom were allegedly abducted by the girlfriend identified as Alyssa Chang and the grandmother identified as Vien Nguyen.

Chang and Nguyen allegedly struck the mother who has not been identified with a stun gun before tying her up and driving her and the child to another home 20 miles away.

The mother was then tied in the garage but escaped to a neighbor's house. She called a relative immediately and an Amber Alert for the boy was sent out in the evening.

"There's a lot of family dynamics involved," Sgt. Graddon told ABC News. "As far as why, we can only speculate."

Police were able to locate the boy the next morning when the babysitter called them even though the mother was able to identify both women who abducted her.

Chang was arrested Thursday in connection with the abduction, Washington Times reported.

"I feel like she was just helping her boyfriend out and just got into this horrible situation," Truong said of his sister. "We're family people. This is definitely not like her. Honestly, I'm at a loss for words right now. It's just crazy."

Chang is held on $250,000 bail for kidnapping, assault and unlawful imprisonment.
