"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards has checked herself into rehab following her arrest at the Beverly Hills hotel.

TMZ reports the rehab currently housing Richards is a live-in facility in Malibu. It specializes in substance abuse. Richards allegedly made the decision to go to rehab after consulting with her family first.

"We're told [Kim] will stay at the rehab facility "as long as it takes," says TMZ.

Nine days before entering rehab, Richards was arrested for kicking a police officer in the leg while she was intoxicated, Us Weekly reports.

Richards assaulted the officer at the Beverly Hills hotel, where she was booked and charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and battery, says Us Weekly.

The Beverly Hills Police Department spokesman Lt. Lincoln Hoshino, told Us Weekly that Richards appeared to have "had too much to drink and was disturbing some of the other patrons" in the hotel's restaurant.

When the hotel restaurant employees asked Richards to leave, she allegedly refused and locked herself in the restaurant bathroom.

Following her run-in with the police, Richards sat down for an interview with Dr. Phil about her alcohol abuse, which has already been documented on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," the New York Daily News reports.

The interview will air on Tuesday, April 28.

Us Weekly adds that during her interview with Dr. Phil, Richards explains her side of what led to her arrest.

"I was angry and frightened and I was scared. I knew what I had done. The whole night is my fault. None of this would have happened if I didn't drink," Richards tells Dr. Phil.

As the interview continues on, Richards questions whether Dr. Phil has also staged an intervention, says the New York Daily News.

"Is this an intervention?" Richards says in a clip that was made public last week. "I'm sorry, I can't."
