Did you think Laguna Beach and The Hills were too good, or too annoying to be true? It turns out you were right. Recently, former star of the MTV series, Kristin Cavallari, confessed that much of the so-called reality shows was scripted.

On Dec. 20, Cavallari appeared on Bethenny where she explained just how fake the popular shows were.

"I faked relationships, faked fights," Cavallari said. "I don't care anymore; I can tell you. At this point, it's been so many years."

Cavallari faked it 'til she made it. The 26-year-old was on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County for two seasons in 2004 and 2005. She joined Laguna Beach's spinoff, The Hills midway through its fifth season in 2009. The show ended in 2010 after six seasons.

So what exactly was fake (besides the bleach blonde hair)? Cavallari was candid with her examples.

"Brody Jenner at the time was dating Jayde Nicole," she explained. "I dated Brody when I was 18, right after 'Laguna Beach,' actually, and that's it and then on the show, on 'The Hills', they had us 'dating' for a few episodes."

So some of the romance wasn't real, but what about the catfights? You can't make that scrappiness up, right?

Wrong.

"They pretended that him and Jayde broke up, and I was dating Brody, and Jayde and I got into a huge fight because she saw us in a club," Cavallari continued. "It wasn't real at all. They were together the entire time."

So just how did MTV orchestrate all of this? Cavallari said it was through willingness of participants like herself.

"[On] 'Laguna Beach,' they really just manipulated situations and put us in situations that we normally wouldn't have been in, or we'd have to film something that maybe happened a month ago or hasn't happened yet, stuff like that," Cavallari detailed. "When I decided to join 'The Hills,' I knew exactly what I was getting into. I knew exactly the character they wanted me to be, so I said, 'Listen, I'm game. What do you want me to do?'"

So if much of the show's drama was forced, what's up with former The Hills star, Heidi Montag?

"I have to say, Heidi is one of the sweetest, nicest girls I think I've ever met," Cavallari said. "She has such a good heart, and I really mean that. I think she just got caught up in all the hype, which is easy to do. I mean, I get it. When I was 18 I probably got caught up in the hype a little bit, too, but she's still the same person inside. I still talk to Heidi all the time."

Cavallari is currently pregnant with her second child with Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears quarterback. They already have a 16-month-old child together named Camden. The parents will learn the gender of their second child on Christmas Day.

"I'm going to have my doctor write it on a piece of paper, and we're going to open it on Christmas together," Cavallari gushed.
