The Samsung Galaxy S6 has been the hot smartphone with more than 20 million pre-orders for the S6 and S6 Edge worldwide, but the HTC One M9 is a very comparable smartphone with tons of features, according to Phone Arena

Comparing the two devices will make buyers make a decision on which one to purchase.

The Galaxy S6 includes metal edging and glass panels on both the front and back of the device. The smartphone is super-thin and has a great feel to it when it is held.

The One M9 has not changed much since the One M8, but that is because the One M8 was a sleek and stylish handet already. HTC recontoured the back panel and edges to make it a little more ergonomic. The company also added a scratch-resistant coating to protect the metal on the handset, Know Your Mobile reports

Both handsets have opted to skip a waterproofing feature to their displays. Additionally, both handsets do not feature a removable battery. In the past, Samsung has offered these two features in some of their previous models. To make up for the battery being non-removable, Samsung has included fast charging and wireless charging capabilities to the Galaxy S6.

The displays are noticeably different. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED quad-HD (QHD) screen that displays 577 pixels per inch (ppi). The HTC One M9 has a 5.0-inch Super LCD3 1080p full HD screen that displays 440 ppi. The One M9 will not be as bright and will have some poor angles, but it will be better on battery than the Galaxy S6.

The Galaxy S6 has decided to go away from Qualcomm processors and instead will use its own 64-bit Exynos 7420 octa-core chip. The highest speed of this processor is 2.1 GHz. HTC decided to stick with the Qualcomm processor and will use the latest Snapdragon 810 octa-core chip that runs at 2 GHz.

Internal storage for each device is quite different. Samsung has removed the microSD slot for the Galaxy S6 and instead is selling three separate models, a 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB model. Each model gets pricier as more storage is added. The One M9 has only one choice for storage, a 32 GB version. However, the One M9 offers a microSD slot that is capable of being expanded to 128 GB. It is much cheaper to purchase an SD card than upgrading to the 128 GB Galaxy S6.

The Galaxy S6 decided to utilize a 16 megapixel (MP) camera with a f/1.9 aperture. The wide aperture allows tons of light to be let in, producing higher quality photos. The One M9 went with a 20.7 MP camera that offers much sharper images than the One M8.

The Galaxy S6 has the better screen and a slightly faster processor, but does not offer a microSD slot. This means heavy users of the device will be forced to purchase a pricey model with more internal data. The HTC One M9 will be the cheaper device for those who need a lot of internal storage.

The overall advantage goes to the Galaxy S6 because of its fast and wireless charging capabilities.
