The WiFi version of the Nexus 7 (2012) is getting the latest version of Android Lollipop in an official OTA rollout.

While Google's next version of Android is expected to be previewed at the end of May, Google's 2014 mobile OS, Android 5.0 Lollipop, is still rolling out to devices across the U.S., along with Android 5.1 Lollipop. But now, just after Android 5.1.1 Lollipop factory images were spotted on Google's developers' page, that latest version of Lollipop has begun rolling out OTA to Nexus 7 (2012) WiFi tablets.

It's only been a week, but what some call the world's best Android tablet is already getting the update, which is just a minor improvement over Android 5.1 Lollipop -- which the devices should already be up-to-date with -- but nevertheless, it's a welcome update.

The total size of the Android OS update is 9.6MB, according to GsmArena, and its official build number is LMY47V. The OTA should be available automatically as soon as you're connected to WiFi, but clicking the "Software Update" section of your Settings' "About device" menu may speed up the process if you haven't received a notification yet.

Other Nexus devices have already begun receiving Android 5.1.1 while other OEM-built Android devices are still receiving older Lollipop updates. Nevertheless, the race for another new Android OS update is about to begin, as Google I/O takes place the last week of May, bringing an expected new version of Android tentatively titled "Android M."

So, Android fans, it's time to start wondering what kind of candy begins with "M". My money is on Mallomar.
