Every year, celebrities bring in piles of dough and attention, but some of them use their earnings and power to help those in need. Since 2009, DoSomething.org has ranked these charitable celebrities into a top-20 list. Check out this year's Top 20 Celebs Gone Good of 2013 to see just how good a celebrity can be.

1. Taylor Swift

Swift took the No. 1 spot this year. Her good deeds include working at the Winter White Gala in London, which raised money for homeless children. On the country singer's 24th birthday, she donated $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony to help Nashville keep music alive.

2. One Direction

The boy band members kicked the year off by volunteering in Ghana with Comic Relief. The heartthrobs helped with "Red Nose Day," which raised £2million to help dozens suffering in Africa and the United Kingom from "severe poverty and injustice," according to DoSomething. In addition, the band's promotions helped raised almost $800,000 for cancer research

3. Beyoncé

The Beyoncé singer headlined Chime For Change this year, helping the London charity raise money for female empowerment.

4. Paul Walker

The late Fast & Furious actor founded Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW) this year.

5. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

The duo's single "Same Love" helped continue the ongoing conversation about society's, and the hip hop world's views on nontraditional relationships. The song won best VMA for "Best Video With a Social Message.

6. Sandra Bullock

The Gravity actress won a People's Choice Award for "Favorite Humanitarian" this year as well as a Mothers Who Make a Difference Award.

7. Kerry Washington

The Scandal actress is currently on President Barack Obama's President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, helping spread the arts to low-income communities.

8. Ian Somerhalder

Besides starring in The Vampire Diaries, the former Lost star founded the Ian Somerhalder Foundation to "empower, educate, and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures."
