DC Comics has been invading the small screen lately with TV adaptations of some its most famous works. But there is one in particular that is being picked up by TV network Fox.

"Lucifer" has been optioned by the network and will be overseen by "White Collar" showrunner Joe Henderson. The TV series will be based on the DC comic series and will feature Tom Ellis in the lead role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series is about Lucifer, the king of hell, getting bored with his underground kingdom, as reported by Los Angeles Times. He officially resigns his role as the Lord and decides to make his grand exit to the surface, namely in the glamorous streets of Los Angeles.

This is where he gets his biggest kicks though, because he starts working the Los Angeles Police Department and finds some satisfaction with torturing criminals. His punishments may be doled out in a fashion a little unexpected from mortals though, since he had spent nearly an eternity torturing them down below.

It is not sure exactly how the series will play out, or if he gravitates into the role of the antihero, which is a theme present in a lot of today's heavy hitting cable TV shows, such as "Breaking Bad" and "Sons of Anarchy." But one thing's for sure: He's the original "Big Bad," and it would not be much of a stretch to think he has a few treacherous tricks up his sleeve. Whether he uses them on good or evil people, we'll have to wait and see.

Deadline also reports that Fox is picking up yet another film adaptation, this time for "Minority Report." This adaptation got the approval of the 2002 film's original director, Steven Spielberg. The filmmaker's own production company, Amblin TV, is going to be producing the series. He has already viewed the first episode and opted for an executive producer credit on the show. That is a very telling sign if the King of Hollywood himself was impressed.
