Apple's latest, recently awarded patents suggest that the highly anticipated iPhone 6 might feature a "touch and hover" display, as well as heart rate monitor.

The touch hover display will let users interact with Apple devices without actually touching the screen. A user will have to hold his or her finger or stylus pen over the desired app, and the app will open as if it had been pressed.

Although the new patent is a great way to get things done faster and conveniently, it could be tough for an iPhone or iPad to detect whether users actually want to open an app or if they accidentally waved a finger above the screen. However, the developers can engineer the interface to read intentions by sensing how long users hover over a certain spot and how far away their finger is from the screen.

The other patent features deciphering information -- the heart rate monitor can read electrocardiography, or EKG, data at a level so intricate that it can determine different users based on very slight differences and irregularities found in heartbeats.

The Cupertino-based giant tech has certainly taken steps forward from its iPhone 5S's biometric fingerprint scanner to more secure feature. The heart beat monitor will likely be a way for the device to ensure that no one other than the phone's owner is able to use it.

In addition, Apple has reportedly been focusing on fitness. It is rumored to create iWatch device that will feature fitness-tracking features using EKG scanner.
