"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" is still several months from its official release date, but the hype surrounding the film remains high. Much to the delight of the fans, rumor has it that the film's official trailer will be out on May 22.

Lionsgate has yet to confirm these rumors, but The Projection List disclosed that the May 22 release date sounds about right. The trailer was reportedly scheduled for release on April 24, which was the premiere of Blake Lively's movie, "The Age of Adeline."

When the trailer was not among those showed then, the May 22 release date was projected. The said date is also the premiere of "Tomorrowland."

Moreover, reports also revealed that Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has plans of making a prequel and a sequel to the "Hunger Games" franchise. Although Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) ended up together based on Suzanne Collins' material, this may change in the film.

Since a sequel is reportedly being discussed, filmmakers might opt to explore a story that goes beyond the realm of the book. According to the report, it is likely that the romance between Katniss and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) will be one of the main focuses of the proposed sequel.

Director Francis Lawrence also told MTV News that it is going to be a "real war movie."

Unlike the first part of the franchise's third installment, where the focus was on Katniss and her constant struggle with her personal problems, the second part will reportedly be primarily about battling the Capitol and President Snow.

"It is thematically very different," said Lawrence. "'Mockingjay Part 1' was about the manipulation of media and propaganda. This one is a real war movie. Very quickly, we are getting out from the confines of District 13 and back out into the rest of Panem -- including the Capitol. It is a very different kind of landscape."

Although there are possibilities that the story will live on through a prequel and a sequel, Lawrence already promised that "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" will tie up all the elements from the very first installment.
