Season 6 of the Canadian cop show “Rookie Blue” is set to air on ABC in June.

As reported by the Huffington Post Canada, stray talk from the chief of ABC Paul Lee and head of Shaw Media Barbara Williams concerning a desire to have the Missy Peregrym-starring show go out on a high note has led to some speculation that this upcoming season will be the last one.

But Tassie Cameron, the Gemini Award-winning showrunner of the series says not so fast.

"That question is still up in the air,” Cameron said. “It's great to hear the networks are interested in keeping us around, it's such a vote of confidence and means an awful lot."

Whatever her confidence level might be, in terms of simply planning the series beyond Season 6, Cameron said there has not yet been an official decision made.

While she sees a definite possibility in Season 7 happening, there would still be “a lot of things to consider.”

“There are the actors, and there are contracts. ... I don't know. I think it's still up in the air. It's a conversation we'll be having in the next couple of weeks," said Cameron, whose previous credits include being a story editor and writer on CTV'S “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”

Things are murky and uncertain for the future of the actual characters on “Rookie Blue” as well.

As promoted by Global TV, Season 6 seems to be all about being in limbo. Whereas last season the officers at 15 Division took a dark trip into the sins of their past, this season will have the cops finding a way to live with that past and move forward. As the promo states, the newbies will learn to “embrace living in the gray areas.”

Episode 1 of Season 6 will air on ABC on June 25.
