Sofia Vergera wants to have children with fiancé Joe Manganiello sooner rather than later.

Already the mother of a son she had when she was just 20, the 42-year-old "Modern Family" star shares with Redbook for its June cover story that she's more than willing to have more children with Manganiello.

"Joe is younger than me. He's 38," she said. "He's never had kids. How am I going to say no? I tell him if we're going to do this, we have to do it, like, now, because I don't want to be 50 with a baby."

As for their overall relationship, Vergara tells the magazine she's known for some time that Manganiello was "the one" because their relationship was "easy."

Vergara insists that Manganiello made her realize having a happy relationship shouldn't always be about hard work and stressful times. In the nine months they've been together, she says they haven't had one major fight about anything.

Certainly, Vergara knows that other end of the spectrum all too well.

She and former beau Nick Loeb are currently in a legal battle over frozen embryos and who has the rights to them and what should become of them.

More recently, Radar reported Loeb is also claiming that Vergara mentally and physically abused him throughout their relationship.

As for how she keeps the tension low with Manganiello, Vergara told Redbook she's learned there are definite benefits to letting a man be a man. She stresses that she's come to realize it's not always a god idea to try and take over every single aspect of the relationship.

" If you don't let them do things, you create a cycle and then you complain that they never do anything," she said.

The Redbook issue hits newsstands on May 26.
