Season 3 of "Hannibal" is just around the corner. It is scheduled to premiere on NBC on June 4. But there has been a lot of mystery as to what the season is going to be about and where the focus lies.

A first-look video on Spoilers Guide shows that things have not just picked up where they left off in the shocking Season 2 finale. Hannibal Lector has not murdered Will Graham and Jack Crawford, though it appeared as though he did.

It also seems as though Hannibal knew he hadn't murdered them, leaving them a trinket that resembled a broken heart. This was meant to be a metaphor, possibly a clue that tells Will that Hannibal had never been betrayed before, but he felt betrayed when Jack and Will devised a plan to entrap him for the murders.

Hannibal obviously knew that Will would find it and be able to decipher the meaning behind it. He also knew that Will would scour the world to look for him. It would be his obsession, given Hannibal has had such intimacy with Will as his psychiatrist and closest confidante after Will's arrest.

So now, Hannibal and Bedelia Du Maurier, his psychiatrist, have fled to Europe and taken up residency. They have assumed new names and we can only presume that they are the identities of past victims.

The video also revealed one crucial puzzle to what the season will behold for the show: does Bedelia become part of his murderous escapades?

Bedelia, although protecting him by proxy, does not commit the murders, but she is a party to them. She has developed a fascination for Hannibal and she seems to be with him for her own professional curiosity, as if to satisfy what she cannot clearly explain. But the truth might lie in an unacceptable place -- she might not have the intellect of Hannibal and she could possibly be his pawn in the escapade, which would essentially reverse their roles in the unnatural relationship.

At the very least, we know that the first half of the season will deal with Bedelia, Hannibal and Will. But the second half of the season will enter them into the "Red Dragon" series of events that were originally outlined in Thomas Harris' book series. This is where the Francis Dolarhyde character will come in, as reported by Slash Film.
