The "Fantastic Four" reboot film has yet to hit theaters and the movie has already been beset with numerous issues and controversies. From casting concerns to reports of reshoots that have caused delay on the film's release, the upcoming Marvel film has it.

A recent report in Superhero News wrote that the producers of the film have decided to forego a 3D release in order to allocate the budget into scenes that had to be shot all over again. The site noted that posters, which used to have the label, "In RealD 3D and Digital 3D," has now been replaced with just "In Large Format Premium Theaters" to indicate the usual 2D format.

While that in itself is unusual, the site also reported that reshooting of select scenes for the movie was done by a different director. It said that a source close to the matter revealed that "Kingsman: The Secret Service" filmmaker Matthew Vaugh took the directorial chair from Josh Trank to do the reshoots.

20th Century Fox has yet to issue a statement regarding the 3D release but Trank has already taken to social networking site, Twitter, to clear some matters and straighten things out regarding the reshooting for "Fantastic Four."

The director replied to a comment made by @SuperheroNewsCB and said, "Definitely not true. I haven't even met MV in person, and there were no such test screenings."

He also denied the rumors to Josh Wildling of ComicBook.com. Trank wrote in reply, "Hey Josh, not true. While MV has been very supportive, he's never been to our set. There's only been 1 director of FF2015. Me."

The director also cautioned his followers to be more discerning when reading news reports. He posted another tweet that said, "Next time you read an article, whether it's Hollywood Reporter or SuperheroNews, if they aren't naming sources: it's probably bulls**t."

Trank had another parting post on his Twitter feed, which said, "Where there's bulls**t, there's flies."

The 31-year-old filmmaker has faced controversies in recent weeks. The Hollywod Reporter cited sources claiming that he had been removed as the director of "Star Wars Anthology" film allegedly due to indecisiveness and production concerns. However, the director announced that his exit was a "personal decision."

While Fox also released Vaughn's "Kingsman: The Secret Service," it is highly unlikely that Vaughn would step in for Trank's role.

In January, producer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg confirmed with The Latino Review that Trank would be handling the reshoots.

"To confirm - 'Fantastic Four' will be doing 3-4 days of additional photography with director Josh Trank and some key cast members," said Kinberg.

Even after that, there was no indication that the plan to have Trank reshoot some scenes have changed.

"Fantastic Four" is set to hit theaters on August 7, 2015.
