Relationships are never easy and are often confusing, especially when you're on the run, have been booted by the FBI, and are trying to clear your name.

While these aren't ordinary dilemmas, it's the reality for "The Blacklist's" Liz Keen (played by Megan Boone) and Raymond "Red" Reddington (played by James Spader).

"Blacklist" fans continue to be intrigued by their relationship and their intense connection, pondering whether the duo has romantic feelings for one another, or if it's just a close friendship where they just deeply care about each other.

According to Zap2it, Boone says that she wants in on the status of their relationship as much as "The Blacklist" fans. At the same token, Boone recognizes that the truth does need to be revealed someday when the timing is just right.

"I think people see how much Red loves her, and it is a confusing kind of love," said Boone. "I think that will have to be answered. How do you love someone that deeply -- no matter what the circumstances, but especially when the circumstances are mysterious?"

While Boone said that she doesn't think it's a romantic relationship, "Blacklist" fans may have misinterpreted a comment that she made a year ago to Gold Derby about the show being a "love story," Zap2it points out.

"I think she loves him," said Boone, "but I don't think there are romantic feelings. ... I don't necessarily think it's a [romantic] love story between Liz and Reddington, even though there are people out there that really feel that's what they want."

"I think it's interesting that people have so many feelings about Liz's love life, especially when it's really not the thing that's on the forefront of her mind," added Boone. "She has so many other things that she's concerned about, but people are like, 'Just forget about your own identity, and all the things you're thinking about in your own life and just settle down' [ laughs]."

How did Season 2 come to an end?

"Season 2 ended with Liz on the run with Reddington, Cooper having been booted by the FBI and replaced by Agent Donald Ressler, and Tom Keen on the fence whether he should join Reddington and Liz or switch over to the FBI and help them hunt the duo down," according to reports.

"Boone continued to explain that the dynamics of the show will change since Liz is no longer working within the limits of the law and is also trying to clear her name while running from the FBI. All of these changes in the task force will also alter the show's structure, leading to what may be a different pacing method and plot-arc structure for season 3."

"The Blacklist," Season 3 will return to NBC on Thursdays in the fall.
