The "Point Break" remake trailer has finally been released and allthough it was as action-packed as expected, Hollywood Life has pointed out that it might never be at par with the original film that was directed by Kathryn Bigelow.

The 1991 hit movie was starred in by Keanu Reeves and the late Patrick Swayze, had more of an ocean setting with the lead role of Johnny Utah portrayed by Reeves and the charismatic Bodhi played by Swayze.

Now, this 2015 remake still has Johnny, an inexperienced FBI agent, infiltrating a team of adrenaline junkies who are into different types of extreme sports, such as free rock climbing, wing suit flying, big-wave surfing, high speed motorcycling, and sheer face snowboarding, as indicated in the film’s IMDB listing.

According to Coming Soon, Luke Bracey from “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” was cast for the lead role of Johnny Utah, who goes undercover as a daredevil in order to infiltrate a group of thrill-seeking criminals led by the charismatic Bodhi, played by Edgar Ramirez.

Getting deeper into his cover, Johnny’s life is eventually in imminent danger, as he tries to prove to the FBI that the adrenaline junkies – whom he may have treated as friends at some point – were the ones behind a slate of inconceivable crimes.

The “Point Break” remake looks to be a promising action-packed film, but the trailer has reportedly left fans feeling nostalgic about the original movie’s star, Swayze. Those who have seen the original might notice some hints about it in the 2015 remake, but it remains unclear on whether or not anyone from the new cast can deliver the iconic line, “I am an FBI agent!”

Bracey will be joined by Ramirez from “Zero Dark Thirty,” Teresa Palmer from “Warm Bodies,” Ray Winstone from “Noah,” and Delroy Lindo from “Gone in 60 Seconds.” Plus, rumor has it that the internationally famous DJ, Steve Aoki, will be making a cameo appearance. Taking Bigelow’s place is director Ericson Core of “Invincible.”

The actors will be joined by various internationally renowned real-life athletes. The surfers are Sebastian Zietz, Ahanu Tson-dru, Laird Hamilton, Billy Kemper, Makua Rothman, Ian Walsh, Dylan Longbottom, Bruce Irons, Tuhiti Humani, Brian Keaulana, Laurie Towner, Tikanui Smith, and Albee Layer.

The snowboarders are Ralph Backstrom, Xavier De Le Rue, Christian Haller, Louis Vito, and Lucas DeBari. Eric Koston and Bob Burnquist will be the joining skateboarders, while Oakley Lehman and Riley Harper are the motorcyclists.

Wing suit stunt pilots who will be part of the film are Jhonathan Florez, Noah Banson, Julian Boulle, Mike Swanson, and Jon Devore, with their consultant Jeb Corliss. Chris Sharma will also be featured as a free rock climber.

“Point Break” will be hitting theaters on Christmas Day and will be available in both 2D and 3D formats.
