Bruce Jenner might be ready to complete his gender transition process, but there are certain steps that he needs to follow in order to legally become a woman. For one, the former Olympian has to obtain a court order that clearly states the kind of case that the court will be handling, Hollywood Life reported.

“Bruce would seek to change his gender through a court order,” said Michelle Lee Flores, a lawyer from Cozen O’Connor. “He must ask the court and give the reasons why he wants his gender to be changed from male to female.”

Apart from the court order, Jenner must also submit a personal request for changing his old name to a new name that he would like to attach to himself. Plus, he will also have to consult with a physician and acquire a declaration, which will allow him to resume with the completion of his gender transition process.

“So long as a doctor certifies ‘appropriate treatment,’ it is just a matter of filing the appropriate pieces of paper with the various State and Federal agencies,” said Susan Clary, a lawyer who works at Harrison Barnes APLC in Malibu.

“After the arduous process of SRS, getting the State and Feds to recognize your gender is relatively simple,” added Clary. “How far we have come in our society view of gender change! Even a few years ago, the answer to your question would have been far more complex. But, we now accept, as routine, a person’s right to publicly correct his or her gender.”

Although it remains unclear whether or not the Kardashian/Jenner patriarch had already secured a court order or complied with the other requirements, an insider has revealed to Radar Online that Jenner had actually already had his much awaited sex change surgery. According to the report, the surgical procedure was done “three weeks ago.”

“The procedure involved reshaping Bruce’s male genitalia into that of a woman,” the source revealed. “He was very happy with the results but did not realize how grueling the recovery would be.”

It has been almost a month since Jenner had revealed to the entire world that he identifies himself as woman. “For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” he told Diane Sawyer in a tell-all interview. “People look at me differently. They see me as this ‘macho male.’ But, my heart and soul and what I do in life, that female side is part of me. I was not genetically born that way.”
