Taran Killam is slated to guest star in season 5 of "New Girl," and things could be quickly heating up for his character and Jess (Zooey Deschanel).

Entertainment Weekly hints their potentially budding relationship may not be as conventional as most connections, but it could still hold life-changing consequences for Jess.

"For Jess, it's about seeing Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) engaged and what does that do for her?" show creator Liz Meriwether said.

Seeing her best friend engaged to another one of her most dear associates reportedly sends Jess on a soul-searching mission that causes her to question many of her prior life choices in the romance department. It seems to serve as a reminder to her of just how much she too wants to one day find herself walking down the aisle.

"With Taran Killam, she's trying to give him a chance in a way she probably wouldn't without that in her mind," Merriweather added. "That episode is actually about her falling in love with his parents and then almost wants to date his parents, not him."

Several media outlets have reported with Deschanel currently pregnant, network execs have already shot the first several episodes for the new season.

Greenfield recently shared with Us Weekly the first episode of Season 5 will be about an engagement party, but hints all the good times may be short lived. CeCe's mom is ruumored to be on her way to town, and her shaky feelings for Schmidt could become a thorny issue for the couple.

Other than Killam, show creators have also inked deals with the likes of Steve Rannazzisi and Fred Armisen to star in varying Season 5 episodes.

While Greenfield adds none of the early episodes have veered in that direction, given some of the guest stars slated to appear he admits he can certainly see a bachelor party themed episode on the horizon.
