Steven Spielberg's television series, "The Whispers," is about children who play games with an invisible force that motivates them to do things. Their parents think the children are playing a pretend game, but they learn that the unseen presence is real.

"The Whispers" takes place in Washington, D.C. where kids play dangerous games with an imaginary friend named Drill. FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan (Lily Rabe), who is a grieving widow and newly single mother, is called to investigate the matter. She does not realize that her deaf son, Henry Bennigan (Kyle Harrison Breitkopf), is also communicating with Drill.

Claire also searches for answers on what happened to her husband, Sean Bennigan, who is thought to have died in a plane crash

Defense Department operative Wes Lawrence (Barry Sloane) is having an affair with Claire, and his wife, Lena Lawrence (Kristen Connolly), has found out. They have one daughter, Minx Lawrence (Kylie Rogers), who has started talking to Drill as well.

Halfway across the world, in the middle of the Sahara Desert, Wes discovers a strange, haunting geological phenomenon. Could there be a connection between his findings and the mysterious invisible presence the children are communicating with?

The answer will force everyone involved to face their greatest fear: That the enemy is already in their homes. A suspenseful race begins to save not only their families, but the world.

In the first episode, "Hide & Seek," John Doe (Milo Ventimiglia) woke three months ago -- near death -- outside a remote village in the African desert. Animal instincts and fate help him return to D.C. where he is convinced that something or someone is waiting for him. He becomes the target of a citywide manhunt will carrying out his mysterious mission. Although known as John Doe, he is really Sean, Claire's husband.

Claire starts to investigate the identity of a wanted man known only as John Doe and reports of a mysterious force interacting with kids.

Lena knows that Wes has been speaking with Claire about a case, and she is unhappy about it.

Drill continues playing his dangerous game with Minx, Henry and Harper.

Will Claire and Wes discover what the presence is and what it wants, and why it communicates with children, before it's too late?

Watch "The Whispers" season premiere on Monday, June 1, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
