“Royal Pains,” the Mark Feuerstein-starring USA Network medical series that focuses on the odd exploits of a “doctor for hire” working on the wealthy and well-known residents of New York, starts its seventh season on June 2.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the coming season will have Dr. Henry "Hank" Lawson looking for what his life has been lacking.

While this happens, Hank’s younger brother, Evan (Paulo Costanzo), will struggle to search for a balance between his new promotion at work and starting a family with Paige (Brooke D’Orsay). Meanwhile, Hank's physician assistant Divya (Reshma Shetty) engages in a fight to keep her own family together.

Although much of the action that takes place on “Royal Pains” might seem far fetched, the show is somewhat based upon the real concierge medicine practices of independent doctors.

Speaking with Web MD about his role, Feuerstein linked the veracity of his performances to observing an onset medical practitioner.

“We have an amazing emergency doctor on set, Dr. Irving Danesh, who not only supervises, with vigilance, the medical accuracy of the show, but who actually comes up with all of the unique, creative, completely credible yet insane medical scenarios that my character has to address,” said the 43-year-old actor who has starred in such films as “Practical Magic” and “What Women Want.”

Researching for his role Feuerstein also met with a man named Dr. Keith Black, who is the head of neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, who actually invited the actor to watch the removal of a brain tumor.

“To stand over a man's head and watch as a doctor fiddles around in the epicenter of who that man is -- his brain, his emotions, his motor skills -- it's beyond cool,” says Feuerstein.

“Royal Pains” airs on June 2 on the USA Network.
