The 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer "Conan The Barbarian" is finally getting its long awaited sequel. But it seems that the upcoming second film won't be the only movie from the world that Robert E. Howard created. Rumors have come up that the new owner to the film rights are thinking of coming up with its own cinematic universe.

Swedish producer Fredrick Malmberg has recently acquired the rights to Howard's novels for his new company, Cabinet Entertainment.

According to Deadline, the acquisition includes 800 stories, which contain the characters Conan, Kull The Conqueror, Solomon Kane, Dark Agnes, Bran Mak Morn, Cormac mac Airt and many others.

"These days, it comes down to brands and characters and we are looking at long-term possibilities," said the producer. "We look at how Marvel played out with its rich base of characters, and this too is a universe that lends itself to exploitation in TV and film. There aren't many libraries like this."

Apart from Conan, films have been made for Solomon Kane and Skull the Conqueror in the past.

While Malmberg hinted on the possibility of new movies from the Conan the Barbarian universe, the producer has yet to announce if a new film is already in development from Howard's stories.

Meanwhile, Schwarzenneger is already confirmed to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel. Producer Chris Morgan revealed to The Arnold Fans that three other characters from the original 1982 film will come back in the movie.

The movie will pick up after the events that happened in the 1982 film. The upcoming film will not include the details of the 1984 sequel.

"Our marching orders from the studio were to create a film worthy as a successor to the 1982 film, which was pretty brutal," said Malmberg. "To Conan, it's not about fancy sword moves; it's about the fastest and most effective way of disposing of our enemy."

Production has yet to begin and the producers have already checked out locations for filming.

"We have visited Spain and it's a very versatile landscape and has great crews," said Malmberg. "We also visited Colombia, and Universal has experience shooting all around the world, so rest assured it will look spectacular."

Universal has yet to announce a projected release date for "The Legend of Conan."
