Patrick Dempsey or McDreamy to his massive number of fans, might be coming back to primetime TV soon.

In a report, Entertainment Weekly noted that Dempsey, who portrayed the recently written off "Dr. Derek Shepherd" in the series "Grey's Anatomy," is rumored to be preparing for a TV comeback.

The popular actor is reportedly "making rounds" to find a TV show where he could appear in next.

A high-level studio executive, which Entertainment Weekly did not name, commended what the actor is doing. "It's very normal for an actor who has been on a show for a long time to take meetings, to get reacquainted with other studios and network execs. It's just what you do. You never know when that dream project is gonna fall in your lap," said the executive.

An anonymous casting executive of a network added that given a great project that suits him well, Dempsey's loyal fans may not wait that long.  "I can definitely see him ending up on something in the fall," the casting officer said.

In an interview published on the April 26 issue of the online magazine, Dempsey revealed why he decided to sign a deal to be in "Grey's Anatomy" in the first place. His response hinted that it's possible that he will be doing shows like the medical drama, again. Even tough he loves racing, there's a soft spot in Dempsey's heart for the entertainment business. Aside from the glamour, there's also the great pay and job security.

Dempsey said, "Job security...why not? It also came with a production deal. It's hard to say no to that kind of money. How do you say no to that? It's remarkable to be a working actor, and then on top of that to be on a show that's visible. And then on top of that to be a phenomenal show that's known around the world, and play a character who is beloved around the world. It's very heady. It's a lot to process, and not wanting to let that go, because you never know whether you will work again and have success again."

However, he also stated some problems he encountered along the way that comes in making a well-loved series. The racing aficionado said, "[But] there is a time when you're like, how much more can we do with this character? Where do they go? [And] you never know your schedule, so your kid asks you what are you doing on Monday, and you go, 'I don't know. I don't know my schedule.' So doing that for 11 years, that's challenging. But you have to be grateful, because you are well compensated so you can't really complain because you don't really have a right. But you don't have control over your schedule. So you have to just be flexible"

Dempsey's decision to "make rounds" and look for possible projects for him shows he is enjoying the TV industry. In fact, Dempsey is reportedly focusing on producing TV projects like the upcoming Sundance TV drama called "The Limit" and "a travelogue spy thriller" "Fodors."
